Prayer For The Nations By Evangelist Sam Biggers

February 16, 2018 – Please pray for Curacao

Curacao is a Lesser Antilles island in the southern Caribbean Sea and the Dutch Caribbean region, about 40 miles north of the Venezuelan coast. It is a country that is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Curacao, as well as the rest of the ABC islands and also Trinidad and Tobago, lies on the continental shelf of South America.

Curacao has a tropical climate with a dry season from January to September and a wet season from October to December. The temperatures are relatively constant with small differences throughout the year. The trade winds bring cooling during the day and the same trade winds bring warming during the night.

This small island has a population of approximately 161,000.
The religions of the population of Curacao to a 2011 estimate is Roman Catholic 72.8%, Pentecostal 6.6%, other Protestant 3.2%, Adventist 3%, Jehovah’s Witnesses 2%, Evangelical 1.9%, other 3.8%, none or unspecified 6.6%.

This includes a shift towards the charismatic renewal or charismatic movement since the mid-1970’s. Other denominations include the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Methodist Church. Like elsewhere in Latin America, Pentecostalism is on the rise. There are also practicing Muslims and Hindus.

While small, Curacao’s Jewish community has had a significant impact on the island’s history. Curacao has the oldest active Jewish congregation in the Americas, dating to 1651. The Curacao synagogue is the oldest synagogue of the Americas in continuous use, since its completion in 1732 on the site of a previous synagogue.

The above are from en.wikipedia.org. These statements have not been fact-checked and are only used here to help us gain a better understanding of this nation.

Small counties need prayer as much as larger countries. Please join in our journey of praying for one country per day. We do not know the needs of the people but our prayers go up to our Father who knows every need of each individual.

1. Pray for the pastors who are serving faithfully and are bringing people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

2. Pray for the national leaders and the local pastors of Curacao.

3. Pray for God to guide us as we pray for this nation.
