Send The Fire
This song stirs me to pray for the Holy Spirit to be more than just a faint flame in my heart. While it was written over 124 years ago, it is the cry of my heart that God will once again send a spiritual renewal that will set our hearts on fire with a deep passion for our own life and this generation. There are so many who do not know Him – and desperately need to come to know Him.
The song, Send the Fire was written by William Booth and first published in “The War Cry” in 1894 marking the 50th anniversary of William’s conversion to Christianity.
Booth was passion about both the temporary and eternal needs of humanity. Often opposed until later in life, he explained his desire was “…for men and women to find their way to the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Its scriptural basis is Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18)
Send the Fire! (Put it on loop and allow it to burn deep)
