March 9, 2018 – Please pray for Gabon
Gabon is a sovereign state on the west coast of Central Africa. Located on the equator, Gabon is bordered by Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, the Republic of the Congo on the east and south, and the Gulf of Guinea to the west. Its capital and largest city is Libreville.
There are three distinct regions: the coastal plain, the mountains (the Cristal Mountains to the northeast of Libreville, the Chaillu Massif in the centre), and the savanna in the east. The coastal plains form a large section of the World Wildlife Fund’s Atlantic Equatorial coastal forests eco-region and contain patches of Central African mangroves especially on the Muni River estuary on the border with Equatorial Guinea. Eighty-five percent of the land surface is rain forest.
The population is estimated at 2 million people.
Major religions practiced in Gabon include Christianity (Roman Catholicism and Protestantism), Bwiti, Islam, and indigenous animistic religion. Many people practice elements of both Christianity and traditional indigenous religious beliefs. Approximately 73 percent of the population, including noncitizens, practices at least some elements of Christianity, including the syncretistic Bwiti; 12 percent practice Islam (of whom 80 to 90 percent are foreigners); 10 percent practice traditional indigenous religious beliefs exclusively; and 5 percent practice no religion or are atheists.
The above are from en.wikipedia.org. These statements have not been fact-checked and are only used here to help us gain a better understanding of this nation.
Often when I am researching I sense an overwhelming burden to pray specific prayers for needs within the nation. I have no clarity on how to pray for Gabon, so I suggest we request the Lord to lead us as we reflect upon the needs of humanity. He may visit you during prayer and place a burden upon it for this people. I pray He will do so.
1. Pray for the youth of this nation. The youth of the world need a solid foundation of spiritual understanding to serve Jesus and prosper in life.
2. Pray for the spiritual and national leaders of Gabon.
3. Pray for the faithful believers in Jesus to receive resurrection life to share the Gospel to the nation of approximately 2 million.
