March 26, 2018 – Please pray for Grenada
Grenada is a small island nation that is comprised of the island of Grenada and six smaller islands at the south end of the Grenadines in the Caribbean Sea. It is located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela and southwest of Saint Vincent. Grenada is known as the “Island of Spice” for its production of mace and nutmeg. It’s one of the world’s leading exporters of these spices.
The 2018 estimated population of Grenada is 108,339, which makes it the 184th most populous country in the world.
Grenada, like many of the Caribbean islands is subject to a large amount of migration, with a large number of young people wanting to leave the island to seek life elsewhere. With estimated 108,000 people living in Grenada, estimates and census data suggest that there are at least that number of Grenadian-born people in other parts of the Caribbean (such as Barbados and Trinidad) and at least that number again in First World countries. Popular migration points for Grenadians further north include New York City, Toronto, the United Kingdom (in particular, London and Yorkshire; see Grenadians in the UK) and sometimes Montreal, or as far south as Australia. This means that probably around a third of those born in Grenada still live there.
Little is noted about religion in Grenada. The information I was able to gather within a small amount of time indicates approximately 45% are Roman Catholic, 44% are Protestant, 6% hold other beliefs with a small number who claim no religion (atheism, agnosticism, etc.).
Much of this information was gathered from en.wikipedia.org. These statements have not been fact-checked and are only used here to help us gain a better understanding of this nation.
I pray you have continued to pray for the nations as I have not posted any particular nation for the past few days. (It was due to my computer was compromised and it has been restored from those events. Please do not be concerned, it was not a virus or scam that will affect your computer).
Let us press forward in praying for the nations of the world. Prayer is important and God knows the needs in every nation. Faithfulness to pray is what He is asking from us. I suggest we pray the same for Grenada as we have for many of the other nations.
1. Pray for the youth of Grenada. Many are leaving to seek life elsewhere. This suggests discontentment within the nation. I continue to believe the young people of many nations will be the generation that the Holy Spirit will bless to lead in spiritual renewal and revival. God can use the youth just as effectively as He can use all generations.
2. Pray for the churches and spiritual leaders within Grenada.
3. Pray for the Holy Spirit to call and equip mission minded individuals to give great witness of Christ to this small nation. One person can impact this entire nation.
