“Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned? It is useless either for the soil or for the manure pile; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Luke 14:34
Salt is good for seasoning and is a natural preservative. Humanity has relied on salt from the beginning of time. Jesus’ statement is powerful concerning salt. If it has been dissolved, it has no purpose in life. It is not good for seasoning or as a preservative.
Salt when cast upon the ground kills the soil and renders it worthless. It is not good for the soil or to be mixed with the animal waste to be added to the soil to enhance it. Once salt is placed upon the soil in even small amounts, it kills the soil and vegetation will never grow in that spot of soil again. Therefore, we must be careful with salt – both naturally and spiritually.
Our lives are to be filled with tastiness for Christ and seeking to be at peace with all mankind. Christians are to preserve and cherish life. If we lose sight of what our purpose is on earth – we become worthless in the kingdom of God.
“For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Mark 9:49-50
